La clé des claviers, by Catherine Lenert, is a method book for the first years of keyboard percussion study in the first cycle: xylophone, vibraphone and marimba. It offers a varied and appealing repertoire — original compositions alongside transcriptions and arrangements of traditional and classical music — paired with preparatory exercises. Together these give the pupil a quick grasp of the keyboard and build an understanding of the different keys. The book is laid out in eleven chapters, one per key. All the pieces are duets, accompanied by xylophone, marimba or vibraphone as preferred, played by the teacher or by another pupil. The teacher will choose whichever octave suits the instrument best.
