Vibraphone Mallets Signature Prestige Thomas Dobler – 02
The Signature Prestige Thomas Dobler 02 "Vintage" mallets produce a warm, jazzy and singing sound, inspired by the characteristic sound colours of the 1970s. The definition remains balanced: suppleness and warmth dominate, while retaining enough contour and clarity.
Their warm, progressive attack encourages fluid, expressive playing. The projection is full and generous, while the feel remains pleasant, light and well balanced. They offer natural transitions between dynamics, a beautiful resonance and a fundamental brought further to the fore.
The dense head gives a full-bodied tone, depth and foundation to the sound, while the Prestige design further accentuates the projection of the fundamental. Two yarns are offered: Clarity, for more brightness, brilliance and a quick response; or Exclusive, particularly hard-wearing, for a precise, rich and balanced sound.
Available with rattan or wooden handles. For vibraphone we recommend rattan: more flexible and more comfortable, it also allows the instrument's sound to develop more fully, without the colouration or vibrations inherent to wooden handles.
The Prestige Series wool yarns have been specially developed by Resta-Jay to offer different playing sensations and sound colours. Depending on the model, you can choose between three types of wool yarn:
“Exclusive” Wool yarn
Highly resistant, this wool yarn produces a precise, rich and well-structured sound. Its break-in period is more progressive: the mallets require more playing time to reach their optimal sound, but in return offer excellent durability.
“Clarity” Wool yarn
The original wool yarn used for the Prestige Series. It provides excellent clarity, a fast response and a bright sound. Its break-in period is shorter, allowing the mallets to reach their full sound more quickly, although the wool yarn is slightly less resistant than the Exclusive version.
“Velvety” Wool yarn
Developed to provide a particularly smooth, velvety and comfortable feel, this wool yarn offers a unique playing sensation and allows for a wide range of dynamics and sound colours.
