Biography

After studying music at the Berklee’s College of Music in Boston (USA ), Jean -Michel Davis performed as percussionist, drummer, vibraphonist in many jazz bands and pop music bands or in classical and contemporary music formations. He worked as musician in N.Y.C. and San Francisco.

Jean-Michel performed in several tours in Europe, USA, China and Canada with the “Primitifs du Futur”, as well as the Octet “Novelty Fox” which he founded with Daniel Colin.

He participated as a percussionist to Japanese tours of the Broadway Musical Company of Bernard Marchais and collaborated with the Cosmos Kolej of Wladyslaw Znorko to the show Corrida .

He played in the Parisian production “Singin’in the Rain” at the Theatre of the “Porte Saint -Martin” and also recorded with the group L & O.

Jean- Michel shares his experience in the Val Maubuée Music Conservatiory where he teaches percussion, jazz drums, vibraphone, jazz, and the collective practices while also ensuring the coordination of the jazz department .
He is also the author of 10 studies for Jazz vibraphone (ed. Salabert ) and 3 Pop Ballads for solo percussion (Marimba - Vibraphone) or duet (Flute and Clarinet) (ed. Henry Lemoine) .

Jean- Michel Davis played with the big bands Ornicar, Caravanserai, the Broadway Musical Company, the Bernard Thomas band, Jean-Jacques Milteau, the Primitifs du Futur, the Concerts Lamoureux Orchestras, the Ars Nova formation, Strings and blades, Claude Barthélémy, Ramon Pipin, the Paris Chamber Opera, the Paris Opera, the Ile de France’s National Orchestra, the Chambord Sinfonietta, Dominique Pifarely, Bertrand Auger Quintet, the modulations band, Au Bonheur des Dames, Elsa Wolliaston, the Cosmos Kolej, the France’s Octet.
